Teddy Bears’ Picnic at Beacon Hill

Anyone coming down to the church on Saturday 19th August 2017 was in for a big surprise (as the song says!). They would have found a big group of teddy bears, rabbits and other furry friends sitting on a rug to have their picnic. The humans who accompanied them also enjoyed a ‘picnic style’ tea, after a few games and puzzles. The aim of the afternoon was to raise money for the Leprosy Mission, one of our favourite charities, and we were delighted to get £180. This came from donations and the sale of some very large soft toys, generously donated by Betty and John.

Soup and Quiz night at Beacon Hill

On Saturday, 7th October 2017, we held our fifth annual charity soup and quiz event, this year to support the important work done by the Leprosy Mission. After a selection of tasty, hot soups and crusty bread, teams of four pitted their wits against 12 rounds of questions on wide a range of topics.

It was an enjoyable evening which raised £115. Congratulations to this year’s champions: Karen, Lilian, David and Irene.
